Lammerskraal Stud’s successful sire Go Deputy enjoyed a notable 1-2 finish in the fifth race at Turffontein on Saturday, when daughters Flichity By Farr and Tambalang filled the first two placings in a fillies and mares handicap over 1800.
Trained by Alyson Wright, Flichity By Farr stamped herself a filly to follow by beating her talented paternal half-sister by 0.4 of a length going away. It was the filly’s first outing in Gauteng.
Go Deputy’s daughter Tambalang was not disgraced in second and the former G3 Fillies Mile runner up and should win again soon.
The three-year-old Flichity By Farr has now won three of only eight races and looks a well above average sort.
Remarkably, Flichity By Farr, who contested the G1 Thekwini Stakes as a two-year-old, and Tambalang were Go Deputy’s only runners for the day at Turffontein on Saturday.
A proven sire of graded stakes winners, headed by Triple Crown winner Abashiri, Go Deputy has a smart strike with his 3yos this season. Seven of his ten sophomores to start have won or finished in the money, and this number includes Listed Breeders Guineas fancy Widow’s Lamp.
