Charismatic East Cape Champion Gogetthesheriff registered the 12th win of his illustrious career when landing a competitive looking pinnacle stakes over 1400m at Fairview on Friday afternoon.
The durable six-year-old had to lug 62 kgs to victory but managed to hold off Russian Mig by half a length to notch up his 11th career victory.

A former East Cape Polytrack Horse Of The Year, Gogetthesheriff is one of the most popular racehorses currently campaigning in the Eastern Cape, and the Jacques Strydom trained gelding gave his numerous supporters something to cheer about with Friday’s success.

The gelding, who is out of the Centenary mare Trojan Belle, pushed his earnings to over R700 000 with his latest win –and hopefully win number 13 is not too far off!

Gogetthesheriff has also been nominated for  an East Cape Racing Award –he is one of four contenders for the title of Champion Older Horse for the 2015 -2016 racing season.

Bred by Lammerskraal, Gogetthesherriff is a son of the farm’s hugely successful resident sire Go Deputy, whose leading representatives during 2015-2016 including Triple Crown winning champion Abashiri and top class G2 Gold Bracelet winner Flying Ice.

A stakes winner at two and graded winner at three, Flying Ice has since been sold to Barry Irwin and will continue her career with Team Valor.

Lammerskraal, recently named the Cape’s Outstanding Breeders for 2015-2016, are well represented by nominees for Equus Award honours, with Abashiri and Red Ray, between them, being nominated for three Equus Awards.
