Lammerskraal’s exciting young sire Visionaire had another day to remember when he had a pair of eye catching winners at Greyville on Sunday.
The former G1 King’s Bishop Stakes winner’s weekend double included yet another impressive 2yo winner (Visionaire’s juvenile daughter Comme-Ci-Comme-Ca having scored on debut in the week) in the form of Count Von Count.
The gelded Count Von Count, who was making just his second racetrack appearance, made amends for a disappointing debut when landing the Eightfold Path Kwazulu-Natal Breeders Juvenile Plate over 1200m.
Bred by Summerhill Stud, Count Von Count (who is held in high regard by connections) was a R575 000 purchase from last year’s National Yearling Sale.
The Mary Liley owned gelding is Visionaire’s fourth juvenile winner this season thus far, with that tally also including the G1 filly Visuality (a leading contender for the G2 Gold Circle Golden Slipper this Saturday).
Visionaire’s second winner on Sunday came in the form of the very smart filly Lala, who had been competing in G1 company previously.
The Doug Campbell trained filly, who had finished a good second in the G3 Flamboyant Stakes earlier in the season, made it win number four when storming home to victory in the Piemonte Stud Kwazulu-Natal Breeders 1600.
The versatile and talented Lala has now won on both polytrack and turf and is clearly as versatile as she is talented!
She is one of four black type performers produced by Visionaire’s first South African crop, which also includes G2 Gauteng Fillies Guineas winner Heaps Of Fun.
