Gogetthesheriff, a son of Lammerskraal’s successful sire Go Deputy, made it win number 13 when running from well off the pace to score at Fairview on Friday.
The ever green seven-year-old, and former East Cape champion, was given a superbly confident ride by jockey Karl Zechner, who bought Gogetthesheriff with a storming late run up the inside to land the pinnacle stakes over1400m by half a length, going away.
Among those beaten by the polytrack star on Friday were G1 Golden Horseshoe hero Afrikaburn and former East Cape Horse Of The Year Sir Duke.
Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, and trained by Jacques Strydom, Gogetthesheriff has won from 1200m-1900m, and could well build further on this latest success.
Out of Centenary’s Majorca Stakes winning daughter Trojan Belle, Gogetthesheriff was named Eastern Cape’s Champion Polytrack Colt/Gelding in 2016.
His G1 winning sire Go Deputy is also responsible for Triple Crown winner Abashiri who makes his eagerly awaited return to racing at Turffontein this Saturday.
