Equus glory for Lammerskraal

Equus glory for Lammerskraal

Lammerskraal Stud enjoyed a wonderful season in 2017-2018, and their season last year was crowned when the farm’s wonderful mare Strawberry Lane was named Equus Broodmare Of The Year at the Equus Awards ceremony last week.

A winning own sister to G3 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Jalberry (dam of last season’s Listed winner Love To Boogie), Strawberry Lane was responsible for a second G1 winner last season when her Western Winter sired daughter Redberry Lane captured the Jonsson Workwear Garden Province Stakes. A newly turned five-year-old, Redberry Lane (also successful in last season’s Listed Syringa Handicap) has won or placed in ten of 15 races and has earnings just shy of R1 000 000.

She is a full-sister to the high class pair of Solo Traveller (G1 Cape Guineas, G2 KZN Guineas) and Strawberry Ice (2nd KZN Fillies Guineas and dam of Go Deputy’s Gold Bracelet winning daughter Flying Ice).

Strawberry Lane was not the only Equus Award winner with ties to Lammerskraal. The 2018 Vodacom Durban July winner Do It Again, who was named Champion 3YO Colt/Gelding for the past season, is out of Sweet Virginia –who resides at Lammerskraal.

The tough as teak Sweet Virginia, a triple Gr3 winner, is due to visit Cape Guineas winner William Longsword this season.
