Broadside stars at National Yearling Sale

Lammerskraal Stud enjoyed notable success at last week’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, when the farm sold the top priced Soft Falling Rain yearling at the auction.

Lammerskraal consigned Broadside (Lot 208), to fetch R1 400 000-top price paid at the sale for a Soft Falling Yearling Sale.
The well bred colt was bought by Andy Williams’ World Wide Bloodstock.

Broadside, a half-brother to recent debut winner Green Haze, was produced by the winning Western Winter mare Mizzen Mist.

The latter is a full-sister to the Lammerskraal bred and owned Horse Of The Year Yard-Arm, whose five G1 victories included the 2004 J&B Met.

Other notable lots sold by Lammerskraal at the National Sale included Whisky Tango (Lot 83) who was knocked down to John Freeman for R650 000, Armando (Lot 103) –sold to World Wide Bloodstock for R650 000 and August Red (Lot 79).

The latter, a What A Winter colt out of multiple stakes winner Adobe Pink, was sold to Hong Kong based trainer David Ferraris for R500 000.
