Go Deputy’s charismatic and durable son Gogetthesheriff picked up more award glory when he was named Champion Polytrack Colt/Gelding for the 2015-2016 at Saturday evening’s Eastern Cape Racing Association Season Awards ceremony.
The remarkable six-year-old, who recently picked up his 12th career victory, was winning his second RA sponsored award –with the Jacques Strydom trained gelding was the Eastern Cape’s Polytrack Horse Of The Year 12 months ago, and remains one of the most popular horses currently in training.
Bred by Lammerskraal, Gogetthesheriff, who has won or placed in 22 of his 30 career outings, has banked over R750 000 –and he does not look likely to have finished here!
Go Deputy, who will stand for a fee of R20 000 in 2016, enjoyed a truly remarkable season in 2015-2016, where his runners included not only Gogetthesheriff, but also Triple Crown winner Abashiri and G2 Gold Bracelet heroine Flying Ice, who now races for Team Valor.
Other notable performers to represent the G1 winning son of Deputy Minister include graded winners Changingoftheguard and Pessoa, as well as the now retired dual feature race winner Deputy Ryder.
