Lammerskraal bred thoroughbreds continue to excel all over South Africa, and they picked up another quick-fire double on Friday.
First of the Lammerskraal breds to score, was Space Launch, who was victorious over 1200m on Friday. Long held in high regard, the son of Jet Master did precious little wrong early in his career, and won two of his first three outings. A half brother to Go Deputy’s top class son Arezzo, Space Launch is out of the unraced Western Winter mare Alula –a full sister to former Equus Champion 2YO Colt Ice Cube. The blue blooded Abound West, owned and bred by Lammerskraal, made it two wins from her last three outings when scoring at Greyville on Friday night. Abound West, now in the care of Alyson Wright, has really thrived since arriving in Natal and has now won or finished second in all three of her outings in KZN. A daughter of Lammerskraal’s late, great sire Western Winter, Abound West is a full sister to the exported G2 Peninsula Handicap winner Polar Bound and a half sister to Equus Champion Long Dollar. No doubt, she will be an exciting addition to Lammerskraal’s paddocks when she retires to stud! Lammerskraal’s in form sire Go Deputy had a pair of daughters make the frame in Sunday’s G3 Track And Ball Oaks, with 3yo Flying Ice running on strongly for second ahead of fellow stakes winning Go Deputy daughter Deputy Ryder. It is surely only a matter of time before Flying Ice lands a major graded race! |
