Go Deputy daughter lifts Gold Bracelet

The 2016 G2 Gold Bracelet bought to you by Blythedale Coastal Resort proved a great triumph for Lammerskraal Stud.

Not only did the farm bred both the winner Flying Ice and third place finisher Deputy Ryder , but both fillies are daughters of Lammerskraal’s sensational sire Go Deputy.
In fact, Lammerskraal sires were responsible for three of the first five past the post in Sunday’s G2 Gold Bracelet, with Visionaire’s daughter Lala filling the fifth spot.

However, it was Flying Ice who stole the show –with the 3yo filly putting up a magnificent display to land the 2000m contest by two and three quarter lengths under a confident ride by Anthony Delpech.
Owned by Mrs Paterson, Flying Ice (winner of the Listed Devon Air Stakes at two) was certainly overdue a major victory –she had previously been placed in six graded races, and had finished second last time out in the G3 Track And Ball Oaks.

It was a first Graded win for Flying Ice, who, like Deputy Ryder, is trained by the Saudia Arabia bound Neil Bruss. The filly, who is out of the Western Winter mare Strawberry Ice, has now banked prize money in excess of R600 000.

Flying Ice’s big win continues the great run of success that former G1 winner Go Deputy has enjoyed in 2015-2016.

The son of Deputy Minister’s top offspring this season, includes not only the above mentioned stakes winners Deputy Ryder and Flying Ice, but also Triple Crown hero and leading Equus Award contender Abashiri.

The latter, who was victorious in all of the G2 Gauteng Guineas, G1 SA Classic and G1 SA Derby last season, has banked over R3.4 million –and also received a R2 million bonus for landing the Triple Crown.

Another by this red hot sire, Go Direct, went oh-so-close to giving Go Deputy another feature race winner. Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, Go Direct was just touched off in Sunday’s Listed The Darley Arabian but it should not be long before this progressive looking gelding gets his turn in the winners box!
