Go Deputy relative stars at Fasig Tipton

A close relative of Lammerskraal’s hot young sire Go Deputy topped the 2016 Fasig Tipton July Sale yesterday.

A son of sire sensation Curlin, lot 222 was knocked down to Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds for a sales topping sum of $475,000 to give further gloss to a truly remarkable family.

The colt is likely to be consigned to a Two-Year-Old Sale, with buyer Randy Hartley commenting, “He’s our lucky number—222,” Hartley said. “We knew we were going to have to pay a lot for him. The sale is getting pretty strong here at the end. He’s got the whole package. If he can expand into that as a 2-year-old…”

The sales topper is out of winning Stormin Fever mare Franscat and is a half brother to 4 time stakes winner Swinger’s Party and two other black type performers. His third dam is Gonfalon –dam of G1 winner Ogygian (sire of champion Johannesburg) and his fifth dam is the outstanding Princequillo matron Cequillo –third dam of Go Deputy and outstanding US sire Fappiano.

Go Deputy has been in the headlines this season thanks to the exploits of his Triple Crown winning son Abashiri, his top class daughters Deputy Ryder and Flying Ice and the gallant East Cape champion Gogetthesheriff.

The former G1 Sword Dancer Invitational Handicap winner (who had two yearlings fetch R500 000 and R450 000 at this year’s National Yearling Sale) has two lots on sale at the upcoming National Two Year Old Sale –

Lot 146 – out of a winning Parade Leader mare, this colt’s third dam is champion Whistling Dixie and this is the family of champions Grand Emporium and Ice Cube, as well as G1 winning 2yo Ndabeni

Lot 212 – this well bred colt is a three parts brother to the mighty Triple Crown winner Abashiri, with his second dam being Donya –dam of Abashiri and herself an Elliodor G3 winning half sister to Horse Of The Year Yard-Arm
