Impressive debut win for Visionaire colt

Lammerskraal’s exciting young stallion Visionaire has some cracking 2yos to his credit this season, and the handsome son of Grand Slam had yet another eye catching juvenile winner at Scottsville’s mid-week meeting.

Africa Rising, who is trained by Sean Tarry for Chris Van Niekerk and Portapa (Pty) Ltd T/A Supabeta, was all the rage for Wednesday’s first race, and was eventually sent off an 18-10 favourite for the maiden juvenile plate over 1200m.

Despite running a bit green, the Visionaire colt made a smart winning debut when running on strongly to collar Rock Of Africa, and drew clear to post a three parts of a length win. It was another 6 lengths back to third place finisher Life Is Good.

Bred by the Summerhill Stud, Africa Rising was a R625 000 buy from the 2015 CTS Johannesburg Ready To Run Sale.

He is the fifth juvenile winner this season for former leading first crop sire Visionaire, whose other 2yo winners include the G1 filly Visuality, and eye catching debut winners Aggressive and Comme-Ci-Comme-Ca.

Visionaire will stand his first season at Lammerskraal Stud for a fee of R40 000.
