Lammerskraal Stud’s magnificent season in 2015-2016 was officially recognised at Tuesday night’s Equus Award ceremony in Johannesburg.
The farm were honoured with a Outstanding Breeder Award at what is widely acknowledged to be the equine and South African equivalent of the Oscar awards.

Lammerskraal, who ended 2015-2016 third on the Breeders’ List,truly enjoyed an unbelievable season last year.
The farm’s 87 runners, who earned over R12 million in stakes last season, achieved a remarkable AEPR (Average Earnings To Runners) of R142 122 –well clear of any other breeder in the top ten!

Lammerskraal were also represented by nine stakes winners who accumulated 12 black type victories during 2015-2016.

Top performers representing Lammerskraal last season included Triple Crown winner Abashiri (who was honoured by a Special Achievement Award on Tuesday night), fellow Equus Award nominee and G1 Mercury Sprint winner Red Ray, G2 Gold Bracelet heroine Flying Ice (who has since been sold to Team Valor), and Graded winners Current Event and Fromafar.

Judging by the quality of some of the early foals born recently, this strike rate should only improve in the seasons to come!
