The classy Lammerskraal Stud bred Go Direct picked up his fourth win when scoring over 2000m at Turffontein on Saturday.
Trained by Geoff Woodruff, the four-year-old gelding, one of three winners on the day for jockey Gavin Lerena, pushed his earnings to over R280 000 with Saturday’s win.
Go Direct had previously finished a close up second in the Listed Darley last season and is clearly a well above average sort!
He is one of seven stakes horses to have emerged from Go Deputy’s current crop of four-year-olds. This crop also produced Triple Crown winner Abashiri and the graded winners Flying Ice, Icy Trail and Royal Badge. The latter has accepted to run in the G2 The Blue Label Telecoms Cape Stayers on Sun Met day in two weeks time.
Go Deputy’s strike of stakes horses in his 2012 foal crop is all the more impressive by the fact that the crop contained just 25 runners. Therefore, nearly a third of his current four-year-old runners are black type performers.
