Redberry Lane shines in Syringa win

The Lammerskraal Stud bred and owned Redberry Lane was rewarded for consistency when she won the Listed Syringa Handicap over 1600m at Turffontein on Sunday.
The four-year-old daughter of Western Winter was given a superb, front running ride by Lyle Hewitson, who steered Redberry Lane to an all-the-way 1.75 length win over Golden Slipper winner Desert Rhythm.

Trained by Sean Tarry, Redberry Lane, whose five previous second place finishers included a runner up effort in the G3 Acacia Handicap, has now earned over R320 000 in stakes.

The 2018 Syringa Handicap was a doubly good result for Lammerskraal, who not only bred and own the winner, but also bred and own the very promising fourth-place finisher Insignis.

A daughter of Lammerskraal’s in-form resident sire Go Deputy, Insignis has now won or placed in four of her five outings and she looks more than capable of picking up a really nice prize before too much longer!

Redberry Lane is a beautifully bred filly –not only is the 4yo a full-sister to dual Guineas winner Solo Traveller, but Redberry Lane’s G2 KRA Fillies Guineas runner up own sister Strawberry Ice is the dam of exported G2 Gold Bracelet heroine Flying Ice (by Go Deputy).

This is also the family of last season’s Golden Horseshoe winner Purple Diamond.
