The Sean Tarry trained Throng made it two in a row when running on from last position to win a handicap over 1700m at the Vaal on Tuesday.
Throng, a son of Lammerskraal’s resident sire Visionaire, has made just four outings and looks like adding further to his tally.
Bred by the Bush Hill Stud, Throng is out of the Kahal mare Congregation.
The three-year-old is one of several smart sophomores representing G1 winner Visionaire this season.
Others include talented filly Takingthepeace (who runs in Saturday’s G3 Three Troikas Stakes) and Investec Cape Derby runner Visigoth.
Sire of recent G2 Merchants winner The Thinker, Visionaire was South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire in 2014-2015.
