Visionaire filly stars at Highveld Awards

Lammerskraal Stud’s successful resident stallion Visionaire has been enjoying an outstanding season, and the G1 winning son of Grand Slam was back in the headlines at Wednesday night’s RA Highveld award ceremony, which took place at Turffontein racecourse this week.

Visionaire’s star daughter Takingthepeace was named Champion 3YO Filly for the recently concluded Highveld racing season.
The Summerhill Stud bred bay stamped herself as one of the most popular racehorses in training, winning the first two legs of the Triple Tiara, the G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic and G2 Gauteng Fillies Guineas, before running fourth in the G2 SA Oaks.

A 50% share in Takingthepeace was recently sold to Craig and Ross Kieswetter.

Her trainer Mike de Kock commented, ““We have been negotiating with Craig and Ross for the last two weeks and we are pleased to have struck a deal with young, up-and-coming professionals of their ilk. We’ll be preparing Takingthepeace for the Johannesburg Spring Season.”

Visionaire is also sire of this season’s high class performers The Thinker and promising 2yo In Cahoots, who takes part in Saturday’s G1 Tsogo Sun Gold Medallion.

South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2014-2015 and Leading Second Crop Sire in 2015-2016, Visionaire will be represented by eight lots on July’s KZN Yearling Sale, including a half-brother to G1 Computaform Sprint winner Noble Heir (Lot 201).
