Fireball Shot, a half brother to Lammerskraal’s exciting young sire Visionaire, has been nominated to the 2017 American Triple Crown.
The Triple Crown, won most recently by American Pharoah in 2015, consists of the $2 million Kentucky Derby, the $1.5 million Preakness Stakes and the $1.5 million Belmont Stakes.
A son of Street Cry, Fireball Shot is out of the stakes placed French Deputy mare Scarlet Tango, whose seven individual winners include three graded winners.
Scarlet Tango’s trio of graded winners are headed by the G1 winners Visionaire (King’s Bishop Stakes) and Tara’s Tango (Santa Margarita Stakes).
Visionaire, who led the South Africa First Crop Sires List back in 2014-2015, was responsible for four stakes horses, headed by Fillies Guineas winner Heaps Of Fun, in his first local crop, while his second crop, now 3yos, include G1 performers Africa Rising and Visuality.
His 2yo son Volcanic Sunset will contest Saturday’s R1 000 000 Kuda Sprint on Sun Met day this Saturday.
