Visionaire progeny up for KZN awards

Lammerskraal Stud’s successful sire Visionaire, who is once again on track to cover some top class mares this season, could once again be in the limelight following the 2018 KZN Breeders Awards.

The son of Grand Slam has two offspring nominated for several awards, with the Breeders Awards ceremony set to take place at Fordoun on December 1st.

Visionaire star filly Takingthepeace (who appears a potential winner of the KZN Breeders Champion Middle Distance Filly award as well), is one of two nominees for the award of Champion 3YO Filly for last season.
Bred by Summerhill Stud, the now four-year-old enjoyed a magnificent season in 2017-2018, when winning four of eight races-including both the G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic and G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas.

Takingthepeace, who was produced by the Rambo Dancer mare Lisa Anne, has won five of ten outings in total and has already earned more than R1.4 million in stakes.

Her paternal half-brother The Thinker, also bred by Summerhill, has been nominated for the award of Champion Sprinter (Colt) and Champion Older Male. That gelding won five of 12 in South Africa, with The Thinker’s biggest success coming in the 2017 G2 WSB Merchants over 1160m.
