Lammerskraal Stud’s successful sire Visionaire is the sire of top class gelding Africa Rising, who scored an impressive win at the Vaal on Thursday.
Bred by Summerhill Stud, the Sean Tarry trained Africa Rising made it win number four when landed a progress plate over 1200m, downing some of the top speedsters in the country.

The four-year-old gelding made it win number four when he powered home to post a neck win going away, with his beaten rivals including Equus Champion, and G1 SA Nursery winner Mustaaqeem.

Owned by Chris Van Niekerk and Portapa Pty Ltd, Africa Rising’s previous wins included the 2017 G3 Byerley Turk –where he accounted for subsequent G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate runner up Copper Force by three parts of a length.

His trainer rates Africa Rising as among the best horses around and the four-year-old looks on track for a big season.

Former G1 King’s Bishop Stakes winner, and Leading First Crop Sire in South Africa back in 2014-2015, Visionaire is also responsible for fellow graded stakes winners Heaps Of Fun, Royal Pleasure and The Thinker.
