Feature glory for Deputy daughter

Lammerskraal Stud’s bang in form sire Go Deputy was represented by yet another feature race winner when his talented daughter Alpine Ridge lifted the spoils in Friday’s Walmer Handicap at Fairview.

Bred by Lammerskraal and trained by Yvette Bremner, the four-year-old Alpine Ridge came with a strong late rattle to lift the spoils in Friday’s 1800m feature by half a length from Sanctuary and Nima. It was another five lengths back to fourth place finisher Scarlet Berry.

A first winner for part-owner Michael Brown (who co-owns the filly with Hedly McGrath and Braam Van Huyssteen), Alpine Ridge has now won three times (from 1200-1800m) and has won on both turf and polytrack.

Go Deputy is no stranger to siring high class fillies –with his other notable daughters including graded winner and G1 Summer Cup entrant Flying Ice, as well as the multiple stakes winners Adobe Pink and Deputy Ryder.

Also sire of last season’s Triple Crown winner Abashiri, Go Deputy stands for a fee of R20 000 this season.
