The French Deputy effect

Lammerskraal Stud’s exciting new sire Visionaire, who has made such a cracking start to the 2016-2017 racing season, is out of a mare by one of the world’s very best broodmare sires.
French Deputy, the sire of Visionaire’s dam Scarlet Tango, is enjoying a superb season as a damsire.

To date, French Deputy (according to stats from Blood-Horse.com) is the world’s fourth leading broodmare sire, with his daughters’ winners having earned over $12 000 000 in 2016 alone!
French Deputy is broodmare sire of recent G2 Qatar Prix Niel hero Makahiki (by Deep Impact) –who is currently third favourite for the upcoming G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. To date, Makahiki has won five of just six outings (including the Japanese Derby) with his only defeat coming when he was second in the G1 Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas).

Himself the sire of more than 50 stakes winners (including champions Left Bank and Kurfone), French Deputy is the broodmare sire of at least 67 stakes winners. This total not only includes the G1 winning siblings Visionaire and Tara’s Tango, but also the likes of G1 Japan Cup heroine Shonan Pandora, G1 Arkansas Derby winner Danza, G1 Gold Cup hero Majestic Harbor, G1 Diamond Jubilee winner Undrafted, and G1 NHK Cup hero Meiner Ho O.
