Weekend double for Lammerskraal

Lammerskraal Stud, whose hot young sire Visionaire is responsible for Sunday’s G3 Byerley Turk winner Africa Rising, was again in the news this past weekend.

The farm were responsible for a pair of winners over the weekend, with Mr Roy scoring his fourth win at Greyville on Friday night for trainer Alyson Wright and owner Roy Moodley.

A son of Lammerskraal’s former champion sire Western Winter, Mr Roy showed really smart form as a 2yo, when his efforts included a third to champion Seventh Plain in the G3 Godolphin Barb.

Second of the Lammerskraal winners this past weekend was Fort Wood gelding New Fort, who won as he liked over 1600m at Greyville on Sunday for in-form trainer Glen Kotzen and owner Mr Soal. Regarded as a potential feature race contender in his earlier days, New Fort could not have won with more in hand, as he scored by four lengths under jockey Derryl Daniels.

Lammerskraal have an outstanding crop of yearlings on offer at the 2017 National Yearling Sale next month.
They will be offering 13 lots as well as acting as agent on three other yearlings on behalf of Target Acquired CC.
The Lammerskraal draft includes yearlings by such top sires as Duke Of Marmalade, Gimmethegreenlight, Judpot, Querari, Sail From Seattle, Silvano and South Africa’s current Leading First Crop Sire What A Winter.

The draft also includes siblings to such high class performers as Brutal Force, Fromafar, Kilauea, Nania and Red Ray, with the latter due to begin his stud career at Klawervlei later this year.

The draft also includes a Duke Of Marmalade colt out of stakes winner Mina Salaam –one of a 100 stakes winners sired by outstanding US sire Medaglia D’Oro (also broodmare sire of G1 winners Rachel’s Valentina and Rock Fall).
