Lammerskraal’s wonderful broodmare Bardot (Badger Land) seems poised to build on her already remarkable record.
Bardot, whose What A Winter colt fetched R900 000 at the recent CTS Ready To Run Sale, was herself a very smart racemare.
Her five wins included the G3Jacaranda Handicap, where Bardot accounted for subsequent G1 producer Skin Tight (Winter Romance) as well as Equus Champion Night Diva (Daarik). She also won the Listed East Coast Handicap and finished second in the Listed Allez France Handicap.
Retired to stud, Bardot has proven, if anything, a better producer than she was a racemare.
To date, her five winners have won 25 races between them, and they include three black type performers- one of whom holds a South African record.
Bardot herself is visiting Lammerskraal Stud’s exciting young sire Visionaire (Grand Slam) this season.
Her G1 winning daughter Viva Maria (Jet Master), winner of the G1 Woolavington 2000, visits former champion sire Captain Al this year, and has a Silvano filly foal at foot, while Bardot’s young daughters, G2 winner Bichette (Western Winter), and record breaker, Blizzard Belle (Western Winter), have been booked to former champion sire Silvano and exciting young sire and G1 winner Querari respectively.
