A close relative of Lammerskraal’s top class resident sire Go Deputy set a new record when fetching $1.5 million at the second and final session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale on Tuesday.
A son of Curlin, the colt was knocked down to Breeze Easy and John Oxley.
Consigned by Hartley/de Renzo Thoroughbreds, the Curlin colt, the most expensive thoroughbred ever sold at public auction in Maryland, is out of the winning Stormin Fever mare Franscat and is a half-brother to the stakes winners Hubba Shake and Swinger’s Party.
His second dam is a half-sister to G1 Futurity Stakes winner Ogygian (damsire of Johannesburg and Street Boss), and fifth dam Cequillo is also the third dam of G1 winner and G1 sire Go Deputy.
A G1 winning millionaire son of dual US champion sire Deputy Minister, Go Deputy is a proven sire of high class performers, with his top runners including Triple Crown winner Abashiri and fellow graded stakes winners Changingoftheguard, Flying Ice and Pessoa.
