The Lammerskraal Stud bred and owned Redberry Lane was scintillating in breaking her maiden at the Vaal on Thursday afternoon.
The 3yo filly, who was given a fine, front running ride by S’Manga Khumalo, outclassed her 11 rivals to score by nearly nine lengths over 1600m.
Trained by Sean Tarry, Redberry Lane is showing signs that she has inherited her share of her remarkable family’s talent –and she, no doubt, will be a hugely valuable asset when it comes for her to retire to stud!
A daughter of Lammerskraal’s late, great resident sire Western Winter, Redberry Lane is the seventh winner produced by winning Jallad mare Strawberry Lane.
Thursday’s winner is a full-sister to G1 Cape Guineas winner Solo Traveller and to G2 KRA Fillies Guineas runner up Strawberry Ice (dam of G2 Gold Bracelet winner Flying Ice).
Strawberry Lane also made headlines at the recent Cape Premier Yearling Sale when her Dynasty colt (named Starship Legacy) was sold to Coolmore Australia for R4.5 million.
