Lammerskraal were responsible for the top lot sold at the 2015 National Yearling Sale, the filly Savannah Cat.
Knocked down to Mike Rattray for R4.75 million, that well bred filly duly broke her maiden in eye catching fashion on Friday evening.
Savannah Cat, who had been second and fourth on her previous two outings, simply demolished her rivals to run out an easy three length win over 1400 metres and she should not stop here!
Trained by Duncan Howells, Savannah Cat was ridden to victory by Anton Marcus.
She is certainly bred to be good –she is by the great sire Fort Wood, who is also broodmare sire of the last two G1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas winners (Noah From Goa and William Longsword respectively), and Savannah Cat (a half sister to the smart winners Bulleting Home and Stormin Cat) is out of three time winner Kapen Cat.
The latter is a half sister to none other than Lammerskraal’s late, great champion sire Western Winter.
