Tara’s Tango (Unbridled’s Song), a half sister to Lammerskraal Stud’s exciting sire Visionaire (Grand Slam), is one of 13 fillies and mares set to compete in Saturday’s G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly& Mare Sprint at Santa Anita.
This $1 000 000 contest will be run over 1400m and was won last year by Wavell Avenue (Harlington).
Stonestreet Stables’ homebred 4-year-old filly Tara’s Tango has proven a versatile sort for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. The good-looking gray daughter of 1995 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Unbridled’s Song has hit the board in five of six starts in 2016, including a victory over top filly Taris in the Santa Margarita in March over 1 1/8 miles, and a win in the Rancho Bernardino Handicap at Del Mar two races back going 6 1/2 furlongs. Staying short for the Filly & Mare Sprint should suit the Kentucky-bred, who is twice stakes-placed over the seven furlong distance at Santa Anita, including the Santa Monica Stakes in January.
