Lammerskraal Stud are lucky to own one of the best bred mares in South Africa.
They purchased Cantabella for R3.1 million at May’s CTS Mares & Fillies For Stud Select Sale, where the daughter of Galileo ended up as the second top lot sold (the top lot, Imperious Star, is also now a resident at Lammerskraal).

Cantabella, who will visit Var in 2016, herself never raced, but her full sister, Pretty Perfect (Galileo –Milanova) is one of the top three-year-olds in Ireland this year, and has won both the G3 Munster Oaks and Salsabil Stakes this year.

Last time out, Pretty Perfect finished a creditable fourth in the G1 Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes.

Cantabella and Pretty Perfect are out of the high class Danehill mare Milanova –who won the G3 SAJC Tokyo City Cup and who finished second in the G1 SAJC Australasian Oaks. The blue blooded Milanova, whose dam L’On Vite is a daughter of champions Secretariat and Fanfreluche, is a full sister to Champion 2YO Colt and highly successful sire Holy Roman Emperor, whose 4 wins (he only raced at two) included the G1 Phoenix Stakes and G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.
To date, Holy Roman Emperor has been represented by more than 50 stakes winners, including G1 Caulfield Cup winner Mongolian Khan, Hong Kong Horse Of The Year Designs On Rome, and 1000 Guineas winner Homecoming Queen.

This is also the family of top class sire Night Shift and champion Australian sires Encosta De Lago and Flying Spur.
