A “Premier” draft from Lammerskraal

Lammerskraal will be represented by six high quality colts at January’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
The farm enjoyed notable success at the Premier Sale last year, selling five lots for R11 625 000 –including a Dynasty colt out of Viva Maria for R5 750 000.

This year, Lammerskraal will be represented by colts by all of Captain Al, Dynasty, Duke Of Marmalade, Judpot, Seventh Rock and Silvano.

First up is Spanish Boy (Lot 36), a colt by reigning champion sire Silvano (whose numerous high class runners include four July winners). Bred on the same cross as classic winners Black Arthur and Wind Chill, he is out of a G3 placed Western Winter half-sister to Dubai based G2 Premier Trophy winner Icy Trail.

Torben Spirit is the name of lot 44, a colt by A P Indy sire Judpot. The colt is out of a Western Winter own sister to short-lived G2 Umkhomazi Stakes hero Buran and G1 Thekwini Stakes runner up Ice Belle. His second dam is a G2 Majorca Stakes winning half-sister to Cape Guineas heroine Little Ballerina.

Outstanding sire Dynasty is responsible for lot 148, a bay by the name of Legacy Lane. A ¾ brother to a colt who fetched R4 500 000 last year, he is a half-brother to exported G2 Gold Bracelet winner Flying Ice out of Fillies Guineas second own sister to Solo Traveller.

Seventh Rock is responsible for lot 149 a colt called Rocket Traveller. He is a half-brother to seven winners including dual Guineas winner Solo Traveller and the R4 500 000 Dynasty colt. The family of current high class galloper Purple Diamond.

Now deceased champion sire Captain Al has a regally bred colt on offer by the name of Captain Chorus (Lot 213).

This bay is out of Galileo mare Cantabella, a R3 100 000 buy from the inaugural mares & fillies for stud select sale. A full-sister to G3 Munster Oaks winner Pretty Perfect, Cantabella (who is bred on the same cross as Frankel) is out of G1 Australasian Oaks runner up Milanova, a full-sister to champion and leading sire Holy Roman Emperor. This colt has a real stallion’s pedigree, with his other notable relatives including top class sires Encosta De Lago, Flying Spur (Danehill) and Night Shift.

Cartier champion and proven G1 sire Duke Of Marmalade is responsible for Royal Attire (Lot 252), a colt out of Kahal’s G2 SA Nursery runner up Evening Attire. He is a half-brother to 3 winners, including G2 sprinter Eddie Sweat and current promising performer Billy Silver, who won his first two races by an aggregate of 7.25 lengths.
