Lammerskraal Stud ended 2017 in style, when represented by a trio of winners on the final weekend of the year.
First to score was Dark Goddess who did her future stud prospects some good when breaking her maiden over 1200 metres on Friday.
The daughter of Western Winter is a three-parts sister to Horse Of The Year Yard-Arm and is also closely related to another Lammerskraal Stud bred star, in the form of Triple Crown hero Abashiri (Go Deputy).
Go Deputy’s 3yo daughter Widow’s Lamp looks well above average and this Lammerskraal bred filly duly made it two wins on the bounce when successful over 1600m on Friday for trainer Yvette Bremner.
Widow’s Lamp, runner up in the Listed Lady’s Slipper last season, has now won or placed in six of her ten career outings and she won’t stop here!
Lammerskraal bred and own Redberry Wood, who gave the farm a treble when breaking her maiden over 1400m at Turffontein on Saturday. A daughter of deceased champion sire Fort Wood, Redberry Wood is out of Strawberry Line –a full sister to Cape Guineas winner Solo Traveller. She has two close relatives on offer at the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale, in the form of lots 148 and 149 –colts by Dynasty and Seventh Rock respectively.
The stud’s good form continued at the Vaal on the first Gauteng meeting of 2018 when Red Ridge made it win number two, from just four outings, for trainer Geoff Woodruff and jockey Marco Van Rensberg when scoring over 1200m. It was a tremendous training feat from Geoff, with Red Ridge making her first racetrack appearance in nearly a year.
A daughter of champion sire Silvano, the lightly raced four-year-old filly races Lammerskraal Stud and is out of the beautifully bred Forty Fires.
A daughter of the farm’s former champion sire Western Winter, Forty Fires, a full-sister to Lammerskraal bred triple G1 winner Set Afire, won four times up to 1800m, and has produced six winners, headed by G3 Prix du Cap runner up Red Flame (by Jet Master).
